It’s hard to say that Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator has a new job this season, as he has been in that role since Dave Canales first came on board as head coach in 2024. The big change for him this season is that Canales has handed over play calling duties. Our one preseason game sample size has generated a lot of optimism for the change.
I won’t say that folks are overflowing with hope, as that is not the recent Panthers way, but Canales got a lot of flack for his drive management over the past
two years. Any change is going to start as a welcome one. We also aren’t going to overreact to one preseason game where the starters didn’t see a single snap.
Canales has indicated that the starters will play one to two drives against the Buffalo Bills’ ones this evening, so we will hopefully get another glimpse of how the offense will flow with its new play caller.
