Fans of the Cleveland Browns were very excited when GM Andrew Berry brought in two wide receivers early in the 2026 NFL Draft. Almost no one could have imagined, at that time, that the Browns would be 3-1 after a very rough start in Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season. Cleveland’s offense has gone from terrible in 2025 to a passing grade in 2026.
HC Todd Monken gets a lot of credit for that, but Berry’s additions have been huge. WRs KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston are starting and making an impact, while
OLmen Spencer Fano and Austin Barber are doing the same upfront.
According to ESPN’s Bill Barnwell, Boston’s season has put him on track to be the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year:
Boston announced his presence in Week 1 with a 46-yard catch on a post route in garbage time, running past Jags cornerback Montaric Brown for his first pro touchdown. Boston has continued to make plays downfield, with catches of 28, 55 and 60 yards over his first four games. He and Zay Flowers are the only two NFL wide receivers with three catches of 45 yards or more through the first four weeks of the 2026 season.
In a league where teams are desperate for deep threats, Boston ranks fourth in air yards per target (16.9) while bringing in nearly 60% of the passes thrown in his direction. He’s already enough of a downfield burner to give opposing defenses serious pause, and Boston has been one of the biggest reasons the Browns have been surprisingly effective on offense this season.
The 6’4” Washington product has shown the ability to win on routes in multiple ways. His size allows him to box out defenders and break tackles, while his speed and quickness have helped him separate and run away from opponents. In four games, Boston has 13 receptions for 284 yards and two touchdowns.
To put that in perspective, only two receivers (Jerry Jeudy, Isaiah Bond) had more receiving yards all of last season. Boston is well on his way to eclipsing the team’s leading pass catcher, TE Harold Fannin Jr., from last season as well (731 yards).
Cleveland’s roster already includes the last two Defensive Rookies of the Year in DE Jared Verse and LB Carson Schwesinger; Boston could keep that streak going with another award-winning season.
How surprised are you by Boston’s start with the Browns? Do you think ROY award is likely at this point in the season?
