Can you believe it? It’s nearly here. After months of offseason waiting and wondering, training camp for the Denver Broncos officially opens on Tuesday (rookies reported last Wednesday). All that hand-wringing and those thoughts of “what if” as you fell asleep are finally going to be replaced with actual reporting on our beloved Denver Broncos.
There’s plenty to keep an eye on this year. Offensively, in case you have been living under a rock, it’s all about Bo Nix, Jalen Waddle, and Davis Webb. All
reports are that Nix’s ankle is back to normal, if not better than ever. Hopefully, Nix’s people thought ahead and sewed up a sock endorsement for him as every camera in a 90-mile radius is going to be trained on that ankle throughout camp. What about Jalen Waddle? Is he finally that big play receiver that can be so sorely needed? Davis Webb assumed play calling duties from Sean Payton, mostly in an attempt to keep him from exploring head coaching opportunities. How long will Payton be able to keep his hands in his pockets before wrestling the playcard back?
Defensively, the biggest question is how the Broncos will go about filling the sizable hole left when John Franklin-Myers left for bucketfulls, $63 million worth, of Tennessee Titans cash. Nik Bonitto looks to build upon an incredible 2025 season and 2026 has all the potential for a Pro Bowl calibur season. Then there’s Jonathon Cooper, who is this year’s offseason doofus for getting arrested twice relating to his inability to balance the millions of dollars the Broncos pay him against his personal relationship with his girlfriend.
Are you pumped, Broncos Country? The season is still a way’s away, but it’s closer now than it’s ever been. Will the offense take that next step? Can the defense continue it’s league dominance? No matter from which way you look at it, it appears that this season has all the making of a super-special run. Buckle up Broncos Country and keep your hands inside the vehicle, the ride is about to begin.
