It was bound to happen, the time has come for LeBron James to pass the keys to the Lakers franchise to Bronny James.
At least that’s how Austin Reaves sees it.
The Lakers finished their road trip strong, beating the Bucks with Bronny earning his first real NBA start while LeBron was practicing back in Los Angeles with the South Bay. After the game, Reaves chuckled to himself as he pointed out this scenario to the media.
Reaves wasn’t the only one. Many people pointed out that Bronny earned a start with the Lakers this season before LeBron, and even SportsCenter got in on the fun.
Hopefully, Bronny can be a good mentor to LeBron and show him how to play with the team’s new additions, like Deandre Ayton, so that he can jump on this bandwagon and not slow the team down.
LeBron will have the opportunity to get that advice from Bronny on Monday when the team practices in LA.
Kidding aside, it’s cool to see Bronny getting celebrated and LeBron certainly can stomach some light ribbing while he prepares to make his season debut.
Once LeBron comes back, of course, he’ll be starting and continue his superstar role with the team. For at least a game, though, it was Bronny starting alongside Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves to create a new Lakers big three that was able to defeat Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks on the road.
