Class of 2026 five-star small forward Tyran Stokes, the No. 1 overall recruit in his class, has officially withdrawn from Notre Dame High School, according to Andy Villamarzo of Rivals.
Notre Dame athletic director Alec Moses confirmed the move in a statement, saying, “Notre Dame High School acknowledges Tyran Stokes’ decision to withdraw and explore new opportunities. We appreciate the contributions he made to our basketball program and community during his time here. We wish Tyran all the best as he pursues
his future.”
Stokes’ next destination remains unknown, but his college recruitment is heating up. The 6-foot-7 forward is down to three schools with Kentucky, Kansas, and Oregon. Kentucky is still viewed by many as the favorite to land the dynamic prospect. Mark Pope and his staff have made Stokes a top priority in the 2026 class, positioning the Wildcats well in the race for his commitment, though it remains to be seen how this latest development could affect things.
Beyond basketball, Stokes also impressed on the football field this past season for the Knights, catching two passes for 57 yards and a touchdown in his debut.
As one of the most athletic and skilled players in the country, Stokes’ next move, whether transferring to another prep powerhouse or exploring an option to enroll in the spring for college basketball, will be closely followed by college coaches and NBA scouts alike.
