The Buffalo Bills are headed to Jacksonville where they will take on Trevor Lawerence and the Jaguars. Lawerence is leading what may be the hottest offense in the league right now, and the Bills defense looks like a MASH unit. On Sunday, while resting Christian Benford and Taron Johnson, Buffalo had no choice but to leave rookie Maxwell Hairston in the game what we now know was too long.
Midway through the fourth quarter of Buffalo’s 35-8 win over the New York Jets, Hairston left the game with an
ankle injury. The Bills’ first-round draft pick from the 2025 NFL Draft was seen making his way slowly to the locker room with members of Buffalo’s training staff and was declared doubtful to return with an ankle injury. After the game, there were reports that Hairston was seen in a walking boot.
The rookie missed the first seven weeks of the season after suffering a knee injury in training camp that landed him on Injured Reserve. Once Hairston returned, he has split playing time with Tre’Davious White or started in place of Christian Benford. In his eleven games played, he recorded 18 combined tackles (14 solo), 5 passes defended, and two interceptions.
Buffalo really can’t afford to have the speedster sidelined if they are making a push to still be playing football in February. Don’t forget, they lost Ja’Marcus Ingram to the Houston Texans in the Darius Slay disaster, leaving them one cornerback short and just Dane Jackson and M.J. Devonshire on the practice squad.
