After a frustrating 5-2 loss against the Ottawa Senators last night, the Colorado Avalanche turn right around today and take on the Montreal Canadiens on the second leg of a back-to-back. This will be
the second and final regular-season game between these two teams, with the Avs having won the first game at Ball Arena by a final score of 7-2.

As previously mentioned, Colorado opened their back-to-back yesterday against the Ottawa Senators and lost by a final score of 5-2. Overall, there just was not a ton of effort in that game from the Avs, and you could tell that pretty early on, when they got outshot by 14-4 in the first period alone. Tonight, hopefully, they can find their legs early on in this game and get a win against the Canadiens here tonight as the Avs bust out their Quebec Nordiques heritage jerseys.

The Canadiens currently sit at fourth overall in the Atlantic Division and occupy the first wild card spot in the Eastern Conference as well. Despite that, like it’s been all year, there are a handful of teams that are right there with the Canadiens in the playoff race. Every point counts for this team, who are hoping to make it back to the playoffs again this year, and they’re looking to get another very important two points against the Avs here tonight. They have goal-scorers throughout their lineup, so Scott Wedgewood will have to be sharp tonight to give Colorado a chance to pull out a win.
