We’ve got just two days left in 2025, until we can finally turn the page to 2026. Plenty of business remains for this offseason, Yankees and otherwise, and a few items should be wrapped up shortly; the posting windows for a couple of NPB stars, Tatsuya Imai and Kazuma Okamoto, will close in the next week. There’s been a surprising lack of buzz around Imai even as he’s days away from having to make a decision, with the Yankees reportedly having been involved at various points of the process, but their
ultimate interest remains unclear. On the site today, Nolan kicks off his State of the System series with a look at the state of the Yankees’ catching prospects. Later, Peter continues our Free Agency series by remembering the signing of Danny Tartabull, and Josh takes the lay of the land in the AL East now that we’re about halfway through the offseason.
Questions/Prompts:
1. If the offseason ended right now, with all free agents that are still on the market staying unsigned, who would you pick to win the American League?
2. Who will have the higher payroll in 2026, the Mets or the Yankees?
