The hits just keep coming with injuries across the NBA. Now, ESPN’s Shams Charania has reported Minnesota Timberwolves perennial All-Star Anthony Edwards will miss up to two months due to a right knee issue.
Just in: Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards will undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his ailing right knee and miss up to two months, sources tell ESPN.
Edwards, 25, was already off to a rip-roaring start to the 2026-27 NBA season. The star dropped 45 points and 10 rebounds on 55.2% shooting
in a season-opening beatdown of the Miami Heat last week, and he exploded for 47 points on 55.9% shooting in an overtime win over the Cleveland Cavaliers just last night.
Edwards’ elite performance has helped the Timberwolves shoot off to a hot 3-1 start as they’ve integrated the flashy offseason acquisition of LaMelo Ball. Now, they’ll have to do without their primary option for some time.
The news also means that Edwards will miss Minnesota’s first three matchups against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Blazers and Wolves are scheduled to meet for a back-to-back in Minnesota on Nov. 16-17 and again for a matchup in Portland on Dec. 1.
The injury to Edwards is just the latest in a wave of injuries around the league. Among the most high-profile developments, Oklahoma City Thunder star forward Jalen Williams and key starter Cason Wallace are both possibly out for the season after suffering injuries over the weekend, while it was announced today that Memphis Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr. will miss six to eight weeks with a torn MCL.
