Bucs take down Cowboys, 24-16, in Thursday night showdown at AT&T Stadium – CBS News
The Cowboys were a lock to win this football game by most media and betting outlets. Instead they fall to 2-3 with plenty of tough games coming up on their schedule.
Bucky Irving ran for a career-high 165 yards, including a 72-yard run to set up the touchdown that put Tampa Bay ahead for good while scoring twice himself, and the Buccaneers beat the Dallas Cowboys 24-16 on Thursday night for their first win of the season.
Jalon Daniels threw a TD pass to Irving in the first half while directing a turnover-free
offense amid several Dallas miscues in just the second start for the undrafted rookie.
CeeDee Lamb injury update as Cowboys star WR exits vs. Buccaneers – Jacob Camenker, USA Today
Not only did the Cowboys drop one of the games circled as a win, they also could be without CeeDee Lamb. Lamb left the game in the fourth quarter with an injury and attempted to return to the game for the Cowboys failed two-point conversion attempt to cut the score to 6. All eyes will be on Lamb’s injury status over the next 10 days.
The Dallas Cowboys may have lost one of their top pass-catching weapons in their Week 5 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
CeeDee Lamb is dealing with a quad injury. He was deemed “questionable” to return to the game, according to Amazon’s sideline reporter Kaylee Hartung, when Dallas began a drive with 8:32 remaining in regulation.
Lamb briefly returned to the field for a play after Hartung’s report. However, he was seen hobbling off the field shortly after the play.
Cowboys vs Buccaneers recap: Dallas drops a game they had no business losing – Dave Halprin, Blogging the Boys
Good teams win these types of football games. Right now, the Cowboys are not a good team. There are a lot of questions to be answered over the Cowboys mini-bye week before the Cowboys take on the Green Bay Packers in week six.
The Dallas Cowboys just did what almost no one thought they would do. They were an 8.5-point favorite going against a winless team, a team playing without its starting QB, instead playing an undrafted rookie at QB in his second-ever start. They lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24-16.
Going into a mini-bye, the Cowboys needed this game for momentum, stacking wins, and putting a turbulent early season behind them. Instead, they just raised more questions, and lost a lot of goodwill among the fanbase.

Cowboys say sick Joey Porter Jr. won’t face Bucs on ‘TNF’ – Todd Archer, ESPN.com
Joey Porter Jr. missed the game due to a sickness. While he was not expected to play 100% of the snaps, the Cowboys secondary is in desperate need of his play. This should not limit him in week six, but the Cowboys defense is much better with him on the field, and that showed tonight against UDFA QB Jalon Daniels.
Joey Porter Jr.’s home debut for the Dallas Cowboys will have to wait.
Porter was ruled out of Thursday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because of an illness, with the team announcing the decision roughly 1 hour, 45 minutes before the 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff. Porter arrived at the stadium before getting examined and being ruled out.
He later left the stadium.
Five thoughts about Cowboys-Buccaneers: New lows for defense in unthinkable loss – Evan Grant, The Dallas Morning News
It’s tough to point out all the “Star downs” from this game, but here are five talking points from the Cowboys 24-16 loss to the Bucanneers.
The Cowboys failed to intercept Daniels, who had thrown four picks in his first two NFL games, extending their streak of interception-free defense to eight games, dating to last season.
It is the longest streak without an interception in team history.
The Cowboys are also the 15th team since the NFL-AFL merger to go without an interception through the first five games of a season. And here’s the spoiler: Not surprisingly, most of those teams ended up missing the postseason.
Buccaneers dominate second half, stun Cowboys: What went wrong for Dallas? – John Machota, The Athletic
The temperature will be turned up on the Cowboys after their Thursday Night Football loss. With so much to figure out in the coming days, what was the biggest thing that went wrong for the Cowboys in week five?
ARLINGTON, Texas — The Dallas Cowboys gave new meaning to disastrous third quarters Thursday night at AT&T Stadium.
To open the second half, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers scored a touchdown after a two-play (both runs), 86-yard drive. Dak Prescott’s batted pass turned into an interception, and five plays later the Bucs scored another touchdown. KaVontae Turpin then fumbled the ensuing kickoff, and the Bucs turned that into a field goal. For good measure, the Cowboys turned the ball over on downs on their side of the field before the fourth quarter arrived.
