The Wisconsin Badgers blew past the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders 42-10 in Week 2, scoring 28 unanswered points in the second half to overcome some rough execution early on.
With starting quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. injured, it was sophomore Danny O’Neil at the helm, and he had a day to remember. O’Neil tossed for 283 yards, which was the most in Wisconsin history for a quarterback in his first start with the team. He also added three touchdowns in the air, while completing 23 of 27 passes.
Edwards
isn’t the only key starter dealing with an injury, as Wisconsin didn’t have starting center Jake Renfro for Week 2 either after he got dinged up in practice last week. It’s unclear whether either can play in a crucial Week 3 game, where Wisconsin will travel to Tuscaloosa to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Alabama has seen two different tales to start the season. They were humiliated in a 31-17 loss to the Florida State Seminoles in the season opener before blowing out UL-Monroe 73-0 at home in Week 2.
They have a new quarterback, Ty Simpson, as last year’s signal-caller, Jalen Milroe, was selected in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
These two teams met a season ago, with Alabama blowing Wisconsin out 42-10 after the Badgers dealt with an early injury to starting quarterback Tyler Van Dyke.
With two different teams here this season, how are the opening odds looking for Wisconsin in Week 3?
FanDuel Sportsbook currently lists the Badgers as a 21.5-point underdog, with the over/under for total points currently set at 46.5 points. Alabama is a whopping -2500 favorite on the moneyline.
Obviously, that’s quite a wide spread for the Crimson Tide, but an understandable one after Wisconsin struggled in the first half against Middle Tennessee.
The Badgers haven’t had a convincing win yet, and will definitely need to clean things up on both sides of the ball ahead of this weekend’s matchup. Not to mention, they’ll be facing a tough Tuscaloosa crowd, with kickoff slated for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Stay tuned for updates throughout the week as it’s time for Week 3!
