Darby Allin defended the TNT championship against Josh Alexander on tonight’s (Oct. 28) Fright Night episode of Dynamite.
Allin is a daredevil who does at least one crazy spot in every AEW match. This bout’s version of it saw Alexander put his knees on the line while destroying Darby’s neck with this leaping tombstone through two steel chairs on the outside. The AEW commentators briefly wondered if this could be the end of Darby’s pro wrestling career.
Darby somehow survived and fought on, but RPG Vice soon ran out to interfere. That’s where the “Fright Night” theme kicked in, as one of The Joker’s clowns was in the audience to stop the heels in their tracks. The man behind the mask turned out to be Steven Borden channeling one of his dad’s famous tricks.
With the additional heels neutralized, Darby pulled out a very creative pin to beat The Walking Weapon and retain his belt.
Borden later explained why he is immediately doing Blood & Guts after just returning to AEW from injury.
