LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers have a chance to close out the Cincinnati Reds in Game 2 of their best-of-three wild card series on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium.
Los Angeles took the opener behind seven
strong innings and nine strikeouts from Blake Snell, plus a franchise-record-tying five home runs in Game 1.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto takes the mound coming off two consecutive scoreless starts, and will be on five days rest on Wednesday. In his one start against the Reds this season, Yamamoto struck out nine and allowed one run in seven innings in a win on July 28 in Cincinnati.
Zack Littell starts Game 2 for the Reds. Since joining Cincinnati at the trade deadline — in a three-way deal that sent Ben Rortvedt and two others to the Dodgers — Littell has a 4.39 ERA in 10 starts, with 41 strikeouts and 11 walks in 53 1/3 innings.
Jaime Jarrín, the Hall of Fame announcer who called Dodgers games for 64 seasons, will throw the ceremonial first pitch prior to Game 1 at Dodger Stadium. Amber Blu will perform the national anthem.
