College Football Playoff will remain at 12 teams in 2026.
Changes to the playoff format failed to gain enough momentum to make any changes heading into next season before Friday’s deadline. Despite many pushing for expansion, especially after James Madison and Tulane both got in for the 2025
season, the CFP will remain at 12 teams. A big reason is that the top two conferences, the Big Ten and the SEC, can’t agree on what they want moving forward. However, there will be changes that were agreed on a few years ago, moving from the top five conference champions, to the four power conference champions and the top group of five champ. It’s important to know this was agreed upon out of fear some conferences would break off and leave mid-majors behind.
Lobos overcome Wolf Pack.
In the best game of the weekend, the Lobos emerged victorious over the Wolf Pack in a close contest. Nevada jumped ahead early, but it was a battle all game, with lots of back-and-forth moments. At the end, New Mexico went on a run and held Nevada scoreless for three minutes, using big plays on both ends to come away with a big victory in conference play.
San Diego State keeps winning over UNLV.
The Aztecs fought against the Runnin’Rebels and kept on winning, their fourteenth of the season and improving to 8-1 in conference play. Miles Byrd continues his strong season, piling up the stat sheet to lead the way for San Diego State. With the win, SDSU now sits at the top of the men’s basketball standings by themselves.
