Tampa Bay Buccaneers DB Keionte Scott came to the Miami Hurricanes after playing on the Auburn Tigers. Before Miami, Scott’s best season was his sophomore year, the 2022 season, where he logged four tackles for loss, one sack, one INT, and four PBUs. In the Corey Hetherman defense this past season, Scott had 13 TFL’s, five sacks, two INT’s including a pick six against Ohio State, five PBU’s and two forced fumbles.
Hetherman found his jack-of-all-trades nickel back and the duo made it work over 14
games in ‘25. Now the Hurricanes have signed Boston College transfer DB Omar Thornton. Thornton’s 2025 season saw him record eight TFL’s, two sacks, one INT, one PBU and four forced fumbles. Thornton, a four-star transfer is 5-foot-11 and 201 pounds. Thornton is a former three-star prep prospect out of American Heritage in Florida.
Scott, a four-star prep and three-star transfer prospect, is also 5-foot-11 but slightly more slender at 193 pounds. Scott, a California native, was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
In the video I pull up five clips of Scott vs. SMU from 2025, a game where he made eight tackles with two TFL’s, one PBU, one fumble recovery and one sack. Against both Pitt and Notre Dame, where I pulled his All-22 clips from, Thornton made 19 tackles with one TFL over the two games.
