Well, Robert Stock’s second major league start this year didn’t go as well as his first did. In three innings, he gave up eight runs—all earned—on nine hits with four strikeouts and five walks, and he threw 80 pitches along the way. For a feel-good story like him, it’s a bit of a bummer.
The Mets’ lineup failed to score and mustered just three hits, as Francisco Lindor, Luis Robert Jr., and Francisco Alvarez had one hit apiece. With the game being out of reach early, Lindor and Bo Bichette were lifted
from the game early.
Xzavion Curry threw three innings of scoreless relief after Stock’s start came to an end, and he now has a 2.81 ERA in 16.0 innings with the Mets this year. His underlying metrics suggest that the ERA might not be sustainable, but hey, whatever.
Luis Torrens threw the final two innings of the loss, and he gave up one run on two hits. The catcher now has a 7.71 ERA on the season.
