Professional sports can create some weird scenarios when building rosters and none could be more odd than the prospect of Alexander Nübel returning to Bayern Munich after years of loans, most recently at VfB Stuttgart.
When asked about the possibility of training Jonas Urbig at Bayern Munich in the future, the goalkeeper indicated that the chances are “relatively high” that it happens.
“The chances are relatively high, because I’m still under contract at FC Bayern. I got to know him and he’s a very
good guy, very mature for his age. Unfortunately he left the camp, but what I saw was very good,” said Nübel (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
With Manuel Neuer’s future up-in-the-air, a competition could emerge if the veteran goalkeeper opts to retire. Would Nübel have a shot? Could he beat out Urbig?
We might soon find out.
Of course, if Neuer decides to return for one more season, Nübel could find himself quickly looking for a new club once again.
