At this point, destroying RB Salzburg early in the year is becoming a habit for Bayern Munich. They did so in 2022 with a 7-1 score in the Champions Round of 16, before organizing a couple of friendlies
to ensure the same happened in 2025 and 2026, to the tune of 6-0 and 5-0, respectively. But what was equally as important as a big win was how well the team prepared for the rest of the 2025/26 season. Head coach Vincent Kompany, for one, found himself very happy with the team’s effort:
“You could see right away that the guys did a perfect job. After the first training sessions, it already feels like a team that’s really fired up,” Kompany said, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “We have a lot of motivation for what we want to achieve in 2026. We have midweek fixtures and three games every six days in the coming weeks. That’s pretty intense, especially coming back from vacation. But the vacation wasn’t too long, the program was good, and the guys are fit. If the squad can get through this phase, we’ll enter the crucial part of the season very strong.”
If Bayern can keep their strong form going into March and April, the team can do big things.
