According to a report from Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), just about everything is lining up for Bayern Munich to acquire Newcastle United attacker Anthony Gordon, except one key detail — the transfer fee.
While Bayern Munich and Gordon’s agent appear to have worked out all of the rest of the details, dealing with Newcastle United might not be so easy:
The current tendency is that Anthony Gordon would leave Newcastle this summer. The Englishman is also open to a move
abroad, which gives Bayern a chance. The player’s representatives have presented Bayern with all numbers – however, the problem is the transfer fee. If Newcastle insist on €80-90m, Bayern would withdraw from the deal.
It seems as if Bayern Munich knows that Gordon is a terrific fit and also that it wants to strongly pursue him, but that the Magpies are not going to let him go easily as well. In addition, with Arsenal and Liverpool also reportedly in the mix, Newcastle could have other trade partners.
How much do the Bavarians want Gordon? Enough to go outside their comfort zone?
Maybe, but Bayern Munich rarely strays from its plan — and if Gordon’s price exceeds FC Bayern’s summer strategy, then it might be “back to the drawing board” for the Bavarians.
