What’s everyone doing for the Miami SMU game tomorrow? I will be driving to Orlando for most of it. My goal is to go at least ten minutes in between checking the score. I’ll be careful! Don’t worry. I have
made that drive so many times I can’t even count. No teams on a bye this week. Okay! We have some solid conference matchups with a Notre Dame sighting as well.
Week 10 bye teams: none
Let’s do some rooting.
UNC @ Syracuse – 10/31 at 7:30 PM EST, TV – ESPN
The second Friday night game in a row for the Tar Heels. That’s..odd. I’ll probably watch some of the game, until I get bored and continue my rewatch of Game of Thrones. I’m late in season four now. I forgot how good some of the episodes are, especially the endings. It makes me even madder though knowing how the series ends. I wonder when I will stop watching. I guess after season five or six. Oh, the game. Whatever. Let’s go Syracuse.
Duke @ Clemson – 11/1 at 12:00 PM EST, TV – ACCN
Is Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik playing tomorrow? That’s by far the biggest question for this game. As far as the matchup itself, I like Duke. They have an an opportunistic defense and an explosive offense. Clemson is not explosive on offense at all without Klubnik. Again, I’ve said it before, but Clemson’s defense has been its biggest disappointment this season. They are not intimidating at all. Still, the Blue Devils only have one conference loss, so they must go down! Let’s go Clemson.
#16 Louisville @ Virginia Tech – 11/1 at 3:00 PM EST, TV – CW
Trap game? Maybe, but I doubt it. Louisville is a good team that is not afraid of playing on the road. Also, a 3:00 PM kickoff time in Blacksburg is not the same as 8:00 PM. If there was a time for the Hokies’ fan base to go nuts, it’s tomorrow. A win over the Cardinals would make Va Tech’s season and show that not all hope is lost. I know I’d love to see it. Come on Kyron Drones! Play the best game of your entire life tomorrow afternoon! Again, Louisville is a team with only one conference loss. Easy choice here. Let’s go Virginia Tech.
#12 Notre Dame @ Boston College – 11/1 at 3:30 PM EST, TV – ESPN
If Notre Dame isn’t leading by at least 20 points at halftime, I’d be shocked. The Fighting Irish will win this game, it’s just a matter of by how much. Also, should Notre Dame really be #12 in the AP Poll? Between them and a couple over-ranked SEC teams (Texas and Tennessee), the “bias” narrative that fans of teams from other conferences share sure seems to have some merit to it. Let’s go Boston College.
Pitt @ Stanford – 11/1 at 3:30 PM EST, TV – ACCN
I don’t think the outcome of this game is as predictable as the ND vs BC game, but it’s not far off. Pitt is one of the hottest teams in the country. They have one of the hottest quarterbacks as well. Their defense is improved. They look like real contenders in the ACC, and possibly the CFP. Was that all a reverse jinx? Maaaaaybe. Let’s go Stanford.
Matchup of the week
#15 Virginia @ Cal – 11/1 at 3:45 PM EST, TV – ESPN2
I decided I’m too cheap to reload my Hard Rock account this weekend to bet on some games. Although I did get a free $5 bet, so I put it on the Cal money-line. Virginia has looked shaky the past two games. They were outplayed by UNC last weekend, and were lucky to escape with a one-point overtime win. The Golden Bears will be looking to rebound after their overtime loss at Va Tech. I think Cal will come out fired up. Virginia will be dealing with the travel, and could look sluggish for a stretch. Let’s go Cal.
#8 Georgia Tech @ NC State – 11/1 at 7:30 PM EST, TV – ESPN2
Another ranked-road favorite ACC team that should win. NC State can’t stop anyone right now. Meanwhile, Georgia Tech crushed Syracuse last weekend. Yellow Jackets quarterback Haynes King played his best game of the season. Brent Key’s squad looks really good right now. I think they win by double digits again here, and are probably 11-0 going into their annual rivalry game with Georgia. But hey, the Wolfpack come first. Let’s go NC State.
Wake Forest @ FSU – 11/1 at 7:30 PM EST, TV – ACCN
Hard Rock Bet gave me a second $5 free bet, and I used it on the Wake Forest money-line. Let’s go! The Demon Deacons looked good last weekend against SMU. First-year coach Jake Dickert has the fans in Winston-Salem feeling optimistic about football for the first time since Sam Hartman was under center back in 2022. On the other side, the Seminoles are desperate for a conference win. They obviously have the more talented team, but I think some of their guys are not as bought in as they were a couple months ago. Let’s go Wake Forest.
See you next week!
