This was just too easy. Knowing that Oktoberfest this year falls inside the extended international break, Bayern Munich decided to stand on business and give the home crowd a reason to start festivities early.
Michael Olise and Alphonso Davies were the stars of the show, being a level apart from everyone else on the pitch. Jamal Musiala broke open the floodgates, while Harry Kane took the score into danger territory. Once Vincent Kompany made his subs, Tom Bischof and Ismael Saibari brought the coup
de grâce. Seven goals, total domination.
For Union Berlin, this game was a nightmare, their worst defeat in history. For Bayern Munich, it was a Friday.

Union were helpless. They made the first 30 minutes seem competitive because the referee let them get away with all sorts of fouls, but once Bayern got going, there was nothing they could do. Even goalkeeper Frederik Rønnow, usually a difference maker in this fixture, was hapless to intervene as he shipped no less than SEVEN goals in 90 minutes.
Der Kaiser: Alphonso Davies
Alphonso Davies is not just back, he seems to be better than ever. He scored two goals on the night and showcased an utterly dominant performance at left-back. FC Bayern has several players who could claim to be the best in the world at their positions, and Davies is one of them. His presence is like having an extra player on the pitch. Defenders are forced to mark him like a winger, but attackers can’t get past him; he recovers far too quickly.
The one weakness in his game is goals and assists. He never gets the raw goal contribution numbers his playstyle would suggest. However, this season has shown us an evolved form of Davies, one that scores and assists more often than he ever did. If he can stay healthy, then Vincent Kompany may have the key to surpassing the record-breaking team from last season.
Fußballgott: Tom Bischof
Subbed on around the hour mark, Tom Bischof quickly began making his mark. Two assists in the span of 30 minutes, both to Michael Olise, prove that Bischof is more than capable of holding his own in the Bayern midfield. If Jürgen Klopp was watching this, he better takes note. Bischof is making waves.
Der Bomber: Harry Kane
The Bomber award is based on goals, and Harry Kane got two. Honestly, he was a little subdued in this game, considering it was a one-sided beatdown. You would expect more.
Fans will know that Kane is still not moving the same way he did last season. His game can be a little bit better. Perhaps, with time and rest, Vincent Kompany may unlock the best from him. In spite of this, he remains the best striker in the world by far.
Meister of the Match: Michael Olise
What an absolute freak. A monster. A nuclear weapon. Michael Olise was already one of the three best players in the world, but he has gone up a level this season. Few Bayern Munich players have achieved this level of performance.
It is almost pointless to recount his stats. A hat trick of goals, one assist, one penalty won. Yada yada yada, who cares? The numbers are just set dressing. What Olise does on the pitch, no one else can do.
Frankly, if Harry Kane does not win the Ballon d’Or this year, he might have to give up on it. The masses are taking notice of Michael Olise. As the season goes on, more and more people will realize how good he is. His reputation is going parabolic, and he is about to leave Harry Kane behind.
So, Harry, you better win that award while you can. Because it’s going to belong to Michael soon.
