The Los Angeles Rams have had some injuries on the offensive line and Alaric Jackson could be suspended, so with Taylor Decker still one of the best overall free agents available right now, would Les Snead want to add the veteran tackle as an insurance policy?
Decker and Matthew Stafford have experience together from their days with the Detroit Lions, so the reigning MVP would likely have some information for the team to consider, if it came to making a move on his former teammate.
Injuries are a part
of football and too much depth isn’t really a thing. The Rams will need offensive lineman in 2026, and until something changes Decker is a potential option.
DO IT: Should Los Angeles Rams REUNITE Matthew Stafford with THIS Free Agent Tackle to Solve Issues? (11alive.com)
“With Keagen Trost out “a few weeks” and Alaric Jackson likely facing a suspension, the Los Angeles Rams could turn to free agent tackle Taylor Decker to add OL depth”
Los Angeles Rams vs. New Orleans Saints: How to watch, listen to and live stream 2026 Preseason Week 2 (therams.com)
“The Rams host the Saints on Saturday at SoFi Stadium for Week 2 of the NFL preseason, in what will be Los Angeles’ lone home game of the preseason. The two teams last met in Week 8 of the 2025 season at SoFi Stadium, where the Rams beat the Saints 34-10. Quarterback Matthew Stafford went 24-for-32 passing for 281 yards and four touchdowns, and wide receiver Puka Nacua had a team-high 95 yards while Davante Adams led the team with two receiving touchdowns. Running back Kyren Williams went for 114 yards on the ground and a touchdown on 4.6 yards per carry. Defensively, cornerback Emmanuel Forbes Jr. had an interception and defensive end Braden Fiske had a sack and a tackle for loss.
Kickoff for Saturday’s game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. pacific time on Rams TV affiliate KCBS.“
NFL Preseason Week 2: Saints-Rams and the exhibition games that matter this week (fansided)
“Still thinking we could get some official word on Aaron Donald’s future by this weekend. I don’t think he’s going through all of this to opt to stay retired, and he also doesn’t have to be ready to go Week 1. This is about the Super Bowl in LA.
Ty Simpson was nearly perfect against the Chiefs last week. Sean McVay knows how to bring a QB along, but this was pretty ridiculous even for him. Hard to think Simpson could pull that off again. McVay tends to be very careful about who he plays and what he shows in the preseason and if Simpson does duplicate that outing, will he be put on ice till the regular season, too?“
Frustrating end to Rams receiver’s preseason is painful deja vu (ramblinfan)
“The Ramsannounced the movealongside the addition of former Raiders receiver Alex Bachman, who has five career catches for 43 yards.
Williams’ bad luck continues for second straight year with Rams
Williams was waived last season on August 19, and let go two days later. There has been no update on whether Williams’ return timeline changed from a “few weeks” into something more severe, prompting the Rams to remove him the active offseason roster.
If he goes unclaimed on waivers, the Rams can either place him on injured reserve or release him with an injury settlement. According to transaction logs, Williams agreed to the latter in 2025 a day after landing on IR.“
Beat still unsure if Rams will extend Puka Nacua (nbcsports)
“Nacua is entering the final year of his contract. Atkins writes that it is only a matter of time before “Nacua lands a monstrous extension,” but whether it comes from the Rams or another team, presumably via free agency or a trade, remains a question. Both the team and player reportedly “hope” that Nacua remains a Ram long term, and the team is “encouraged by some of the steps he’s taken this offseason.” The superstar wide receiver still has a civil suit that must be dealt with and the league has not yet clarified whether it intends to suspend him. For now, Nacua is a member of the Rams’ explosive offense and can be treated as a locked-in WR1, albeit with some suspension risk.”
What New Puka Nacua Trial Date Means for Rams and Possible NFL Suspension (si.com)
“With the trial now set for 2028, the NFL may have to make a decision on Nacua well before the civil case is resolved. While the legal process hasn’t taken its course, the NFL can discipline a player even without criminal charges. It’s unlikely that the NFL will wait 19 months for the trial to take place.
The NFL can still interview Nacua and his accuser as well as witnesses to help inform their decision. With that said, if the NFL doesn’t believe that it has enough evidence to make a decision, the league could close the investigation and Nacua wouldn’t face discipline.”
LA Rams’ $124 Million All-Pro Projected to End Pro Bowl Drought (sports.yahoo)
“The prediction stands out because McDuffie owns first-team and second-team All-Pro honors from his time with the Kansas City Chiefs, yet he has never received a Pro Bowl nod.
Patra wrote in his NFC first-time Pro Bowl candidates that McDuffie had been “ignored by Pro Bowl voters” in Kansas City and suggested his move to Los Angeles could finally change that. He also mentioned McDuffie’s versatility and willingness to contribute against the run as reasons he is at the top of the league for his position.”
2 Reasons The Los Angeles Rams’ 2026 Season Could Be Turbulent (stadiumrant)
“The first reason the Rams’ 2026 season could be a bit disappointing is the age of quarterback Matthew Stafford. He is currently 38 years old. It’s an age that doesn’t guarantee success for the next season.
Quarterbacks who typically reach that age range have declined quickly. The two most recent examples are Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers. In 2013, Manning was the best quarterback in the league. He threw for a record-breaking 5,477 yards and 55 touchdowns with a 115.1 passer rating.
That was Manning’s age 37 season. Just two years later, he threw for nine touchdowns and 17 interceptions and missed a handful of games. It was the worst season of his career.”
Rams All-Pro Puka Nacua misses practice with muscle soreness. McVay expects him to return next week (apnews)
“Head coach Sean McVay said Nacua felt the soreness in his psoas — a muscle that runs from the back through the pelvis to the legs.
“Puka is doing good,” McVay said. “We’re just being smart with him. Expect him to be back next week, ready to go.”
Nacua is heading into his fourth season with the Rams in the final year of his rookie contract, but he has been a full participant in training camp and preseason workouts. The two-time Pro Bowl selection led the NFL with 129 receptions last season and ranked second with 1,715 yards receiving.
Defensive end Myles Garrett also skipped Thursday’s practice to rest his knee, which has swelled at times during the past month with the Rams. Garrett also is expected to be in practice next week.”
2026 NFL Preseason Week 2: 10 things to watch (nfl.com)
“Every NFL team handles the preseason differently these days, but typically, Week 1 is something of an amuse-bouche: a small bite to tickle the taste buds. In Week 2, we’re in for more of a hearty appetizer. The main course is still a few weeks away, but this stage of the meal should provide enough nourishment (i.e., starter snaps) to tide us over for a bit.
So, what’s on offer across the NFL? I have an apps menu!
Below, you’ll find this week’s 16-game schedule, followed by 10 things to watch — and I’ve divided my analysis into four different subsections for your tasting delights. Bon appétit!”
Comment of the Day:
Not time to panic, but there are some valid reasons to be concerned about this team in L.A.
“Quessenberry playing the 2nd most important position in the game is nightmarish. Untested Trost injured, Puka and Garrett hurting, who’s capable of being #3 WR, no decision by AD yet… Less than a month out from Australia, our team readiness situation is not exactly ideal.” -SlowTightEnd
