Barcelona have been hit with more bad injury news this week after losing Joan Garcia and Raphinha to injury.
The Catalan giants have now confirmed that Garcia is set to undergo knee surgery and will be
out for between 4-6 weeks.
Here’s the club’s official statement:
“Player Joan Garcia has suffered a tear of the internal meniscus in his left knee. Tomorrow, he will undergo arthroscopic surgery performed by Dr. Joan Carles Monllau. The estimated recovery time is between 4 and 6 weeks, depending on his progress.”
It’s another huge blow for Barcelona in a week which has seen Gavi undergo knee surgery and be ruled out for five months.
Garcia will miss upcoming games against Real Sociedad, PSG and Girona as well as matches against Olympiakos and Real Madrid after the international break.
Wojciech Szczęsny will now come back into the XI to replace Joan Garcia, while young Eder Aller is expected to be his back-up.
The 18-year-old was in the squad against Oviedo and will continue as Diego Kochen is with the US at the Under-20 World Cup in Chile.
