Throughout the year, we will be asking and answering questions about various Ohio State teams, the players, and anything else on our collective minds of varying degrees of importance. If you have a question that you would like to ask, you can tweet us @LandGrant33 or if you need more than 280 characters, send an email HERE.
Ohio State is on the second of its two off weeks of the regular season. They have won their first seven games in dominating fashion and are clearly the best team in all of college
football. So, as we make our way through the gameless week, we wanted to check in with Buckeye Nation to gauge how they are feeling about what they’ve seen from the team so far, and what they think they will see the rest of the season.
So, in this week’s fan survey, we have two questions. The first asks you to assess the first seven games of the season, and the second asks you to predict what happens the rest of the season.
Check out the questions below, and then make sure to vote in the survey beneath the article. If none of the options included in the survey line up with what you want to pick, feel free to head down to the comments at the bottom of the page and write in your pick. Then, on Saturday morning, check back with LGHL to see the results.
Question 1: How would you grade Ohio State through the first seven games?
Is this Ohio State team the greatest collection of college talent ever assembled? Probably not, but they are pretty darn good. There are a few issues that Ryan Day has said will be focused on during the off week, so the question really is how much do the unreliable running game, the issues at right guard, and the very unspecial special teams impact your opinion of the team, considering that they have arguably the best defense in college football history and the most efficient passing game in the sport.
Personally, I am giving them an A at this point, because what they do well, they do veeeeeeeery well. And what they don’t do well, they actually do fine, it’s just not as good as everything else. I also trust Day and the coaching staff to be able to fix what is fixable and scheme around what is not.
So, what do you think?
Question 2: What outcome do you now see for the Buckeyes this season?
I mean, I predicted Ohio State to go 16-0 and win their second straight national title back in August, so there is no reason for me to change my stance now. However, if you fear The Game at the end of the regular season or the impressive Indiana Hoosiers in a potential Big Ten Championship Game, I would understand that.
Obviously, they could lose either of those games and still win a national title; in fact, they could lose both of those games and still win it all (that’s not actually an option available in the survey, but if you think that’s going to happen, feel free to write it in).
But when the betting odds have you as such a dramatic national championship favorite, it is literally tough to bet against them. Currently, OSU is +260 according to the FanDuel Sportsbook, while Alabama is second at +650, so I am very happy with the +600 odds I got before the season began.
So, I am riding with my undefeated, national title prediction, and you are welcome to jump on board with me.
