I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! I’m afraid there is not much going on to discuss regarding the Carolina Hurricanes at the moment, (officially anyway).
They did sign another goalie for depth, Zach Sawchenko. More information can be found here.

The biggest “non” news for Carolina is the lack of progress in the re-signing or trading of rookie defenseman, Alexander Nikishin. There are plenty of rumors and scuttlebutt out there, but there is nothing
official.
Rumors:
- A deal was almost done with the Rangers, but Nikishin’s camp would not agree with the contract offered by New York.
- Currently there are negotiations with St. Louis and other teams.
- According to the “Fourth Period”, the Canes are trying to include Jesperi Kotkaniemi in a Nikishin deal, perhaps complicating things.
The Canes are rumored to be involved in another offer sheet to an un-named player.
They are not completely out of the Connor Hellebuyck conversation yet.
Speaking of offer sheets, how about that $18 million AAV offer sheet for Leo Carlsson? Yikes!
