Following a big Monday of visits, Tennessee will be hosting a couple more potential defensive fits on Tuesday. The Volunteers have added Kansas State safety Qua Moss out of the portal so far, taking the first step towards fixing up the safety room, which is a priority for new defensive coordinator Jim Knowles.
Today they’ll visit with another potential fit at safety, hosting Lyrik Walls who is transferring from Kansas.
Rawls stands in at 6-1, 205 pounds and has one season of eligibility remaining. In his first and only year with the Jayhawks, Rawls totaled 73 tackles, seven passes defensed and one pick. He began his college career at Oklahoma State — a notable connection. Jim Knowles recruited him to the Cowboys back in 2021 before leaving for Ohio State. Rawls was a three-star prospect coming out of high school.
Tennessee will also host a hot name at EDGE on Tuesday. Adam Trick, who is transferring from Miami (OH), will be on campus today. The 6-4, 242 pound pass rusher registered 8.5 sacks this season, adding 59 total tackles. Trick got home for 4.5 sacks in 2024.
Trick has also heard from Texas Tech, Wisconsin and Florida. Tennessee could use another impact pass rusher after losing Joshua Josephs and Caleb Herring from the rotation. Jordan Ross is the next man up, but it’s a bunch of inexperienced youth after that. Trick would fit that bill, along with Chaz Coleman, who visited on Monday.
Tennessee has been connected to several more prospects who are likely to visit later in the week. Penn State safety King Mack, Penn State linebacker Amaree Campbell and Wake Forest defensive tackle Mateen Ibirogba should all be in Knoxville at some point soon.
