Week 7 of the college football season is here, and it brings a key Florida in-state rivalry game. The Florida State Seminoles head from Tallahassee to South Florida today to face the Miami Hurricanes.
This game obviously has plenty of meaning for our community, with so many people having attended or become fans of either team. It felt like the right time to bring in the Miami Dolphins’ perspective and take a closer look at some of the 2027 NFL Draft prospects who could be on the field today.
The game
kicks off at 7 p.m. Eastern on ESPN and Disney+.
Florida State 2027 Draft prospects
Duce Robinson, wide receiver (Senior) – Robinson is a huge target – like a bigger-than-the-Dolphins-tight-ends huge target. Listed at 6-foot-6 and 230 pounds, Robinson uses his size to give his quarterback a receiver who will fight for contested passes in a huge catch radius. If he gets his hands on the ball, it is going to be a catch. He is not the most precise route runner, and he does not have the speed to pull away from anyone, so he relies on his size to make the catch rather than speed to create separation. He is probably a day-two prospect who can excel as a possession receiver and redzone target.
Charles Lester III, cornerback (Junior) – Lester is likely a developmental outside cornerback with good size. He is 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds, but he still needs to develop his technique, especially against faster, smaller wide receivers. He needs to clean up his work when receivers cut, but he can coach that up this year and in the NFL. He still has eligibility, so a 2027 return to college is not out of the question, but he could transition to the league, probably as a day-two pick. For Miami, where cornerback depth is a question mark, Lester could be an ideal option.
Ja’Bril Rawls, cornerback (Senior) – Another cornerback with good size (6-foot-1, 180 pounds), Rawls is behind his teammate in draft potential, but the potential for success in the NFL is there. He probably needs to add strength, and his frame suggests he can do that without sacrificing speed. He has the versatility to slide back to safety, which might be the better option. He is not the best tackler, and he will need to clean that up in the NFL, especially if he is expected to step up in run defense. A developmental defensive back option who should contribute on special teams, Rawls is likely a day-three prospect who could rise to the end of day two.
Quintrevion Wisner, running back (Senior) – The former Texas running back moved to Florida State this year after three seasons in Austin. He carried the ball 226 times for 1,064 yards in 2024, but he played only nine games in 2025 due to a hamstring injury. He has 29 carries for 141 yards this season, but is buried on the depth chart, and he has to prove he can be a receiving option out of the backfield before he can be considered a feature running back at the NFL level. He is a day-three depth running back option who can contribute on special teams.
Micahi Danzy, wide receiver (Redshirt sophomore) – Danzy is the smaller receiver on our FSU prospects list, but that is only because Robinson is ridiculously large. Danzy is listed at 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds, and he can line up in multiple roles among the receiving corps. He has track speed, setting the FSU school record in the 400, and started his college career as a running back. He has 19 receptions for 139 yards and two touchdowns this season. He uses his speed to his advantage but needs to keep building his route tree. He is probably a day-three prospect who could use his speed to battle his way into a day-two consideration.
Miami 2027 Draft prospects
Darian Mensah, quarterback (Redshirt junior) – Mensah is a modern college football player who bounces between teams; he started at Tulane, then spent a year at Duke before moving to Miami this year. He throws with anticipation and makes good decisions, but he does not always work through his progressions and still has to prove he can handle pressure. He does not have the strongest arm and throws great short-to-medium passes, but the ball can die on longer throws at times. He could be the first quarterback off the board this year, potentially as the number one overall pick.
Xavier Lucas, cornerback (Junior) – Lucas might be the ideal press-corner for the NFL. He has the size (6-foot-2, 200 pounds) to disrupt receivers at the line of scrimmage and the speed to keep up with the league’s vertical threats. He contests passes well, using his size to break up jump balls, but he is more likely to knock the ball away than to come away with an interception. He is a liability on run defense, with seemingly no interest in getting his nose into the mess in front of him; he also needs to clean up his tackling. Lucas has missed the last month of the season with an undisclosed injury, but he is expected to return for tonight’s game. He is probably a day-two prospect who is clearly not a finished product and will continue to grow in the NFL. For a Dolphins team in need of defensive secondary help, Lucas could be a key target.
Note: Lucas is the basis of the lawsuit from Wisconsin against Miami. Lucas played his freshman year at Wisconsin under a two-year Name, Image, and Likeness contract. He tried to transfer to Miami for his second season, but Wisconsin refused to enter him into the transfer portal, citing his contract. Lucas dropped out of Wisconsin and enrolled at Miami without entering the NCAA’s transfer portal, and Wisconsin is alleging tampering by Miami to entice Lucas to transfer.
Damon Wilson II, edge (Senior) – The Dolphins will likely be highly interested in edge rushers in the 2027 Draft, and Wilson could put himself on the board. At 6-foot-4 and 250 pounds, Wilson has the size and athleticism needed to succeed in the NFL. He uses both speed and power to attack offensive tackles, but he needs to add counter moves to get off the block if his initial move does not win. He also needs to improve his edge-setting against the run. He has the flashes to be great in the NFL, but he hasn’t shown the consistency yet. He broke out last year at Missouri with a nine-sack season, and he has tallied 3.5 sacks through the first five games this year, including 2.5 sacks against Clemson a couple of weeks ago. If he can keep up that production, he will be a second-round target who could slide into the end of the first round.
Samson Okunlola, offensive tackle/guard (Redshirt Junior) – Okunlola’s potential is projected based on limited playing time at Miami. He did not get regular snaps until last year, when he rotated at left guard all season. He was clean, did not allow a sack, and showed he could be relied on in big spots. He slid out to left tackle this year, and he has been successful there as well – though he has had a penalty issue that needs to be cleaned up. He could bring that versatility to the NFL, allowing teams to use him as either a guard or tackle as needed. At 6-foot-6, 330 pounds, he still brings athleticism to the line and could be an effective mover to lead block in running situations. He is probably a day-two prospect who could start as a depth option at tackle and guard before settling into a starting role as a guard on the line.
Ryan Rodriguez, center (Redshirt Senior) – A sixth-year college player, Rodriguez has played both guard and center at Miami. He has had injury issues, including needing surgery in 2022 and 2024. He is 6-foot-2 and 300 pounds, which is smaller than most NFL interior linemen, but Miami’s All-Pro center, Aaron Brewer, is 6-foot-2 and 290 pounds, so that might not be a major concern. He has to prove he can withstand the pressure of an entire season and anchor the line, but he has been instrumental in Miami’s success early this year, especially given the turnover the Hurricanes had on the line from last year.
Honorable mention: Jamal Meriweather, tackle – The 6-foot-7, 305-pound Meriweather has a lot of potential and could be a good swing tackle in the NFL, but he has not gotten consistent playing time. He will get on the field at some point and is worth watching, but he is likely a late-round pick or undrafted free agent signing who can continue developing early in his NFL career.
