Beset by injuries at cornerback, the New York Giants on Thursdaysigned cornerback Nikko Reedoff the Los Angeles Chargers’ practice squad.
Three of the Giants’ top four cornerbacks — Paulson Adebo, Deonte Banks, and Greg Newsome — were on Thursday’s injury report. Adebo (knee) did not practice. Banks (calf) and Newsome (rib) were limited practice participants.
Rookie Colton Hood was the only one of the top four cornerbacks to practice fully on Thursday. Dru Phillips is the slot cornerback. Nic Jones
is also on the roster, and Ar’Darius Washington can play cornerback.
The Giants will have to make a roster move to make space for Reed.
A 5-foot-10, 180-pound former undrafted free agent who played collegiately at Colorado and Oregon, Reed played in five games for the Chargers last season. He had two tackles and a pass defensed.
The Giants face the Los Angeles Rams on Monday. The Rams feature wide receivers Puka Nakua and Davante Adams.
