The TCU Horned Frogs are less than two days from kicking off the 2025 football season with a nonconference road matchup against the North Carolina Tar Heels and new head coach Bill Belichick. As we count down the days until kickoff, we’ll highlight a former (or current) Horned Frog whose jersey number represents the number of days left until the opener.

1 – Chris Hackett (Safety – 2011-14)
Hackett became a three-year starter after redshirting in 2011, ending his career with 224 total tackles, 9,5 tackles for
loss and two sacks along with 28 pass breakups, 12 interceptions, five forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. Hackett, who played in 38 games over his final three years in Fort Worth, received AP Second-Team All-Big 12 honors in 2013 and rose to All-Big 12 First Team status in 2014, when he posted a career-high seven interceptions and tied for the team lead with 13 pass breakups. Hackett, who made a career-high 88 total tackles in 2013, had a string of four consecutive games with an interception during TCU’s Peach Bowl-winning season in 2014. Despite having an additional year of eligibility for 2015, Hackett left early to declare for the NFL Draft.
Hackett went undrafted but signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015. The Tyler, Texas native made brief stints with the Buccaneers (2015-16) and Oakland Raiders (2016), but never appeared in a regular season NFL game.
