Tonight the Knicks (22*-9) travel to the bayou to face the Pelicans (8-25). New York is firing on all cylinders and fought off a late-game comeback to escape Atlanta with a win on Saturday. New Orleans
would appreciate it if you’d attend a game and fill their empty seats.
It’s no surprise that they clog the drain of the Western Conference. New Pelicans coach James Borrego hasn’t fared much better than Willie Green, who was pink-slipped after a 2-10 start. The Pels don’t do anything well, aside from stealing the ball—and even with that in their favor, their defense rates 28th in the Association. The birds had a glimmer of hope recently with a five-game win streak, but followed that with three straight losses. Two of their top three scorers (Zion Williamson and Jordan Poole) have been relegated to the bench, and poor Trey Murphy III is having a fine season amongst the dystopian landscape of the Smoothie King Center.
Beware the trap game, Knickerbockers. Tonight’s tip off is 8 p.m. EST on MSG and NBA TV. This is your game thread. This is The Bird Writes. Please don’t post large photos, GIFs, or links to illegal streams in the thread. Be shining stars of humanity. And go Knicks!
* Should be one more, but the Cup final doesn’t count.
