You really could just call it the “Michael Olise of the Match” award. France’s manager Zinedine Zidane rested Bayern Munich winger Olise in their last Nations League match of the September international break against Belgium. This initially seemed to backfire when Belgium took and held a lead throughout much of the match. Then Zidane brought on Lucas De Cunha, Rayan Cherki, and Michael Olise (and later Desiré Doué) to completely turn the match on its head. Every one of the substitutes did exceptionally
well and Doué was also utterly magnificent, but Olise once again stole the show, assisting the winner before netting two goals himself to make the 4-1 final scoreline look massive.
Of course, Bayern fans know Olise has done similarly brilliant things all throughout the current season and last season as well. How long does Olise need to excel to get acknowledged as the best player in the world? French fans seem to be asking the same question, with chants of “Olise Ballon d’Or” heard among the crowd as the former Crystal Palace winger dazzled with his skills. But what does Olise think?
When asked about the chants, Olise gave a typically short answer:
“I have nothing to say,” the 24-year-old said with a smile (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Olise does not need to say anything. He is simply letting his football do the talking.
