Boston College vs Notre Dame: Fighting Irish Team Preview
ACC Power Rankings—Week 10, 2025
What to Watch For
- Who will start at QB? It’s been tough sledding for whoever has been under center for Boston College this season. Dylan Lonergan’s promising start to the season quickly collapsed. Grayson James took his place as the QB1, but had a middling performance against Louisville and got banged up towards the end of the game. Will O’Brien stick with the veteran, turn things back over to Lonergan, or would he even consider getting Reisig back in the mix? It seems we won’t know until kickoff.
- Can the BC defense do much of anything? Notre Dame is a top-20 team in the country when it comes to points per game, yards per game, yards per play, turnovers, and a whole bunch of other important offensive categories. BC’s defense is one of the worst in the Power 4 conferences. They just gave up 38 points to Louisville and I don’t expect they’ll put up much more of a fight against ND.
Prediction: Notre Dame 45 Boston College 10
Notre Dame is going to be very motivated to win this game and stay in the race for the College Football Playoff. A loss at Alumni Stadium would be a huge disappointment for them, so I don’t expect the Irish to mess around. They will likely take a commanding lead in this game early and ride it as long as they can. For the Eagles to even stay competitive, they will need some big breaks in the turnover margin or with a few explosive plays on offense. I don’t expect those breaks to materialize.
