Hey everyone, Micah Parsons is good.
Periodically, it seems people need a reminder and ESPN was happy to oblige, ranking Parsons as the second-best edge rusher in the NFL in our first link below.
Normally I wouldn’t go through so much trouble to point out just one article, but I think this one is worthy of a bit more attention if only because of how people have talked about the Packers this offseason. Article after article after article has bemoaned the Packers’ lack of moves this offseason, as though
the lack of a first round pick and the relatively limited salary cap space they had doesn’t have a completely understandable explanation. And that explanation is that they acquired one of the very best and most impactful players in the entire offseason last year.
True, that doesn’t necessarily mean their moves this offseason are good or bad, but it should demonstrate how short sighted it is to ding the Packers for their lack of moves this offseason when they made a franchise-defining one less than a year ago. Would the take-makers have graded the Packers’ offseason better if they had picked an unproven player in the first round and shelled out free agent dollars for a guy whose previous team didn’t even want him?
If they did, that would be stupid. But perhaps I ask too much of the algorithm servants toiling away on their click farms. Whatever it takes to retain attention, right?
