During today’s official press conference to announce a new alliance between Top Rank and DAZN, some of the promotional company’s top fighters were in attendance to talk about their new situation. While presented with the opportunity, Keyshawn Davis ran down on WBO lightweight champion Abdullah Mason while trying to get him to agree to fight him this year.
Keyshawn would end up phoning manager J. Prince during the conversation, who represents both fighters, and asked if the fight could be made, although
he had previously mentioned Prince thought it was too soon for a 21-year-old Mason to get matched in that kind of fight.
Mason, a soft spoken guy, didn’t really have much to say other than the fact that he now carries the belt that Keyshawn was stripped of and that he’s willing to face him ‘whenever’ — a response that didn’t sit too well with Davis, who was looking for a more firm commitment.
You can watch the full exchange between the fighters in the video at the top which includes Davis unequivocally stating that he’ll knock Mason out if they ever do fight, but you can tell this is more of a matchup that’s being promoted now with the thought of it likely taking place further down the line, especially given that Davis no longer competes at lightweight.
