Here is a look at how the Las Vegas Raiders’ rookie class fared in a 10-7 loss at the Denver Broncos in week 9 and what it means looking ahead to Monday night’s home game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Ashton Jeanty:
The No. 6 overall draft pick 86 percent of the snaps, four days after playing a season-high 90 percent of the snaps. Jeanty continued to struggle to put together a strong per carry average as he had 60 yards on 19 carries. He has averaged less than four yards per carry in seven of nine games.
Jeanty did have a 31-yard run negated by a holding penalty. after having five catches for 47 yards in Week 9, Jeanty had three catches for three yards and had an interception bounce out of his hands. It wasn’t a great night for the top pick.
Jack Bech:
Well, at least, he played. Bech logged 14 offensive snaps at Denver, four days after playing zero snaps on offense. With Jakobi Meyers traded two days earlier, the second-round pick got some run. Yet, he didn’t have a catch on one target and he committed the penalty on Jeanty’s big run. He only has catches in four games this season. It’s been a slow start.
Darien Porter:
Porter started for the second straight game, but he played just 42 percent of the snaps. The man he replaced, Kyu Blu Kelly, had two interceptions and played 57 percent of the snaps after playing zero last week. We will see what happens against Dallas’ strong passing game.
Caleb Rogers:
The offensive lineman, taken in the third round, has been inactive for all but one game. With injuries mounting, he may get a chance to play down the stretch.
Charles Grant:
The offensive lineman, taken in the third round, has been active for five games because Kolton Miller is out for with a high-ankle sprain, but he hasn’t played on offense.
Dont’e Thornton:
The wide receiver, taken in the fourth round, was a healthy scratch for the first time this season in Week 9. He played 37 snaps at Denver, but had another rough game. He had one catch for four yards on two targets. He had a penalty tat negated a touchdown and he had a big drop. The game seems too big right for the fourth-round pick. But with Meyers gone, he and Bech will get more chances.
Tonka Hemingway:
The fourth-round pick was active for the third time and played a season-high 19 defensive snaps. He had one tackle.
JJ Pegues:
The defensive tackle, taken in the sixth round, was inactive for the seventh time.
Cody Lindenberg:
The seventh-round pick played 22 snaps on special teams, which is his normal range.
Carter Runyan:
The undrafted free agent tight end was inactive after playing the past five games.
