The Barcelona contingent once again headlines the latest Spain squad for their first two World Cup Qualifiers away to Bulgaria (Sept. 4) and Turkey (Sept. 7) as coach Luis de la Fuente announced the full 26-man squad on Friday.
Goalkeepers: Unai Simón (Athletic), David Raya (Arsenal), Álex Remiro (Real Sociedad)
Defenders: Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid), Pedro Porro (Tottenham), Robin Le Normand (Atlético Madrid), Dean Huijsen (Real Madrid), Dani Vivian (Athletic), Pau Cubarsí (Barcelona), Marc Cucurella
(Chelsea), Álex Grimaldo (Bayer Leverkusen)
Midfielders: Rodri (Man City), Martin Zubimendi (Arsenal), Fabián Ruiz (PSG), Pedri (Barcelona), Mikel Merino (Arsenal), Gavi (Barcelona), Fermín López (Barcelona)
Forwards: Álvaro Morata (Como), Mikel Oyarzabal (Real Sociedad), Ferran Torres (Barcelona), Dani Olmo (Barcelona), Lamine Yamal (Barcelona), Nico Williams (Athletic), Yeremy Pino (Villarreal), Jesús Rodríguez (Como)
Barça have seven players in the squad, but there are two notable omissions as goalkeeper Joan Garcia and Alejandro Balde have been left out once again. Balde has been out of the squad for a long time now and his chances of playing in next year’s World Cup don’t look great, and Garcia still has a long way to go to displace the three keepers currently in the squad squad, especially for a coach as loyal as De La Fuente.
