England manager Thomas Tuchel has defended Marcus Rashford after the Barcelona loanee failed to impress in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Andorra.
Rashford is back with the Three Lions, following his move to Barcelona, but had a quiet game against the minnows at Villa Park in World Cup qualifying.
Tuchel said that Rashford was lacking the “wow factor” but is still full of confidence he can come good.
“He struggles a bit with numbers and with the ‘wow’ performance in an England shirt, I agree,” he told The
Telegraph.
“But as long as he trains like he did and behaves and is active and alive in the group, then we will always trust him and push him and support him.
“I can see that he tries, this is for me the most important that he stays positive and he trains at the moment with the right attitude, with a smile and with a lot of quality.”
Rashford and England are back in action against Serbia next, before the forward is due to head back to Barcelona.
