The Golden State Valkyries’ sophomore season is already off to a great start — they’ve already sold out season tickets at Ballhalla. Last week, the team announced that they’ve sold out of season tickets, selling 12,000 total. The Valkyries have opened a waitlist for fans hoping to get their hands on some, but it looks like the waitlist is going to be long.
The Valkyries’ first home game this season is on May 10th versus the Phoenix Mercury. The cheapest tickets are going for just under $47. If the past
season wasn’t proof enough, these ticket sales show just how necessary women’s basketball is in the Bay — and everywhere else, for that matter. This season, the Valks are bringing back stars Veronica Burton and Kayla Thornton, plus promising sophomores Kate Martin and Janelle Salaun. The Valks also added Gabby Williams over the offseason from the Seattle Storm, and her first game of the season will be a revenge game versus her old team. In short, there are about a million reasons to watch the Valkyries this year — and about a million reasons to join that season ticket waitlist, too.
