Marcus Rashford has had a bit of a slow start to his Barcelona career but silenced his critics with two great goals in Thursday’s win over Newcastle in the Champions League.
The England international broke the deadlock with a fine header and then scored one of the most eye-catching goals of his career to make it 2-0.
Those good people at Opta have now crunched the numbers with regards Rashford’s performance and have highlighted how he’s matched a certain Lionel Messi.
There was plenty of praise for Rashford after the game. Goalkeeper Joan Garcia said he’s been trying to save similar shots in training.
“Rashford has us used to that in training, but to do it at a time like this… he has a great shot. I’m happy for him because he’s working hard and well,” he told Movistar.
Barcelona will be hoping that Rashford can keep up this kind of form, starting again at the weekend against Getafe.
