Not even the curmudgeons at Mavs Moneyball could criticize the latest development in the Dereck Lively news cycle.
Lively is sponsoring $10,000 worth of pet adoption fees on Sunday at Dallas’ Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center.
You’re operating at a furry-critter deficit. You head to the SPCA off of Interstate 30 and Hampton starting at noon on Sunday. You meet the love of your life. Lively covers all adoption fees. It costs you nothing.
It’s as simple as that, and you’ve gotta love Lively for putting
up the cash here.
KERA reported last month that Dallas Animal Services was once again over capacity. South Dallas in particular is known as a hot spot for stray dogs. Suffice to say, the city needs all the help it can get to find these animals a home, especially in times when housing costs and other economic strains may be preventing people from adopting.
“You know, we’re all trying to save everything that we can,” DAS Interim Director Amanda Earl told the station.
So, while the cost of everything seems to do nothing but increase, adding another member to your family or household will be a whole lot cheaper on Sunday afternoon.
Anyone interested in adopting a new pet from the SPCA at the event on Sunday can click here to view all adoptable animals.
Last season, Lively also announced a partnership with the national nonprofit Undue Medical Debt to give for every blocked shot he records to help erase unpayable medical debt.
If you go grab a pet on Sunday on Lively’s dime, let us know on X The Everything App by tagging @MavsMoneyball, and we will not only give you the requisite repost, but we will feature any photos you provide of your newly adopted pets on our Feed on the site.
I didn’t even ask Kirk if this was feasible. Flood our mentions and make this a problem for us, Mavs fans.
