Two more Rutgers women’s basketball players have announced their intentions to enter the transfer portal, as forwards Yacine Ndiaye and Janae Walker have decided to finish out their college days elsewhere. Their announcement makes it three planned departures in two days.
Ndiaye joined the Scarlet Knights last season but was limited to only 11 games due to injury. In those games, she averaged 1.1 points and 1.8 rebounds in 9.2 minutes per game. She spent the first two years of her college career at
UNC Greensboro. In her last year with the Spartans, Ndiaye averaged three points, 3.4 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks per game and helped them reach the NCAA tournament. She leaves Rutgers with one year of eligibility remaining.
Walker played two seasons at Rutgers after spending her freshman year at Kentucky. In her two years on the banks, Walker averaged 1.8 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. She saw a lot of action at the start of the season, but her playing time dwindled throughout the rest of the season as the team took a downward spiral into last place in the Big Ten. She leaves Rutgers with one year of eligibility remaining.
With their intent to depart, five Rutgers players have now officially entered the portal or declared their intentions to transfer. Antonia Bates entered the portal after Gary Redus was announced as the team’s new head coach, while Nene Ndiaye, Maklah Moore, Yacine Ndiaye, and Janae Walker will have to wait until the portal reopens on April 6th.
