An already strong test for the Seattle Seahawks in Week 8 just got a little tougher.
Ahead of their Monday Night Football trip to Seattle, the Chicago Bears made a major pre-trade deadline splash, acquiring All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee Titans, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Thursday.
In exchange for the 29-year-old Simmons, the Titans are receiving 2027 and 2028 first round picks,
as well as a fourth round pick in ’27, while sending a ’28 fifth round pick back to Chicago.
Fresh off a career-best 11 sacks in 2025, Simmons and the Titans agreed to a three-year, $105.8 million extension over the summer. In seven games this year, he has totaled four sacks and six tackles for loss on a struggling team. Across 106 games in Tennessee, Simmons posted 46.5 sacks and 72 tackles for loss while making three All-Pro teams and four Pro Bowls.
Now, Simmons will join a high-flying Bears team that looks like a bona fide threat in the NFC, provided they can get even average play out of their defense — and the biggest splash of the Ben Johnson era will be a massive boost in that regard.
The trade comes just days before Chicago takes on the Seahawks in primetime, and days after the defending Super Bowl champs made a splash of their own. Now, in Quenton Nelson’s debut, he’ll have an immediate chance to prove his value to a contender as he lines up across from one of the league’s best defensive tackles — and a player he knows well from years battling in the AFC South.
