Bayern Munich could be facing a defining stretch in its season, and the absence of both Lennart Karl and Serge Gnabry places the creative burden squarely on Jamal Musiala, who might not be all the way back in his recovery. The question is not whether Musiala has the talent. That has never been in doubt. The real question is whether he is ready (and maybe if his body is ready, too) to consistently dictate matches as the central attacking force.
Musiala has already shown flashes of brilliance in the
No. 10 role. His ability to glide past defenders, operate in tight spaces, and create chances out of nothing makes him uniquely suited for the position. However, taking “control” requires more than moments. It demands sustained influence, leadership in buildup, and the ability to impose a rhythm on the match.
With Bayern Munich competing at the highest levels, opponents will key in on Musiala as the primary creative outlet. That means he will face tighter marking and more physical challenges. How he adapts to that attention will be critical. Can he speed up his decision-making? Can he elevate those around him when space is limited? Can he avoid putting his head down and driving into defenders? Will he make the extra pass to open teammates consistently?
There is also a psychological component. The No. 10 role at Bayern Munich carries expectation and pressure. Musiala has the temperament, but this stretch will test his consistency and resilience. Even more, Musiala needs to have the confidence in his mended leg and ankle to allow him to play the way that he wants to play.
In many ways, this situation presents an opportunity rather than a burden. If Musiala embraces it, he could firmly establish himself as Bayern Munich’s long-term centerpiece in attack. The stage is set. Now it is about whether he can truly own it.
So, what do you say? Is Musiala ready to take back control of Bayern Munich’s No. 10 position? Tell us in the comments below!
