Add that all up, plus whatever strains this puts on himself and his family, and this theoretically could be the first part of a process that could lead to the Yorks selling this team.
I’ve long believed that if Jed York didn’t have such a strong desire — and good financial ideas — to run the team, the Yorks probably would’ve sold the 49ers long ago. If his mindset or his influence changes dramatically, a potential $9 billion transaction could sound very appealing to this family.
But that’s taking this a long way on minimal information. Shanahan and Lynch run the football side. The 49ers will miss longtime executive Paraag Marathe, who left to run the 49ers’ European soccer teams, but they have president Al Guido and several old hands still around. Jed York could reassert all control of this franchise almost immediately. The 49ers will not fall apart just because of this one incident.
It’s just that the whole franchise has to be feeling uncertain right now, and the 49ers’ terse statement on this matter Monday was evidence of it.”

“The Dallas Cowboys selected Fehoko (6-foot-4, 267 pounds) out of San Jose State in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He spent his rookie season with the
Cowboys before spending time with the Washington Commanders and Indianapolis Colts.
Fehoko spent the 2025 season on the Colts’ practice squad. Indianapolis waived him on April 30.
Fehoko played college football at San Jose State, where he earned Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2022.”

It’s worth noting that with new coordinator Raheem Morris in charge of the defense, there are some names here who can fill multiple roles.”
Projecting the 49ers’ practice squad: Which players will the team keep around?
“’I’m projecting Brayden Willis and Khalil Dinkins to make the practice squad. Willis has lined up at fullback 10 times through three preseason games.
Wide receiver is tricky. Jordan Watkins is not guaranteed to make the roster. Neither is Christian Kirk. As of today, I’m listing Watkins on the practice squad, with Malik Turner and Wesley Grimes.
Don’t be surprised if this list includes multiple players who aren’t on the roster today. For now, I think it’ll be Enrique Cruz Jr., Drake Nugent, and Connor Colby. Isaac Alarcon sticks as the International player.
At linebacker, keeping Larry Worth around and continuing to develop him should be part of the plan.
It’s not as easy to pick a name in the secondary. But we’ll roll with Jakob Robinson at nickel and bring Darrell Luter Jr. back once he clears waivers. Lastly, Jalen Stroman sticks at safety.”
