Over the weekend, there was a slew of nostalgic basketball moments flooding timelines on social media due to the Redeem Teams’ recent induction into the Hall of Fame. The class of 2025 was headlined by Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, Billy Donovan, Sue Bird, and Maya Moore.
The NBA also enshrined each member of Team USA’s 2008 Men’s National Team that brought home a gold medal in the Beijing Olympic Games. The team was famously dubbed as “The Redeem Team.”
These inductions included former Kentucky
Wildcat standout Tayshaun Prince. Not only did Prince contribute on the defensive end while in Beijing, but he also provided a boost on offense, scoring just over seven points and dishing out two assists per contest.
His veteran presence and championship pedigree were also valued assets that he brought to the table. At the induction ceremony, Prince flashed the inside of his Hall of Fame jacket that featured logos from places he has played over the course of his long career. Of course, the UK logo was well represented, as you can see in the photo below.
Tayshaun Prince provided the Big Blue Nation with plenty of fond memories to look back on, but I think most would agree that it was his flurry of five straight three-pointers against North Carolina in 2001 that stands out. Prince would go on to score 31 points in that game, cementing one of the best performances in the history of Rupp Arena.
