No. 2 Indiana football is set to take on UCLA at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana, this weekend.
The Hoosiers are coming off a statement 38-13 home win over Michigan State this past weekend that
was decently competitive in the first half before Indiana pulled away in the second.
UCLA has undergone a turnaround under interim head coach Tim Skipper after the in-season dismissal of DeShaun Foster. The Bruins were winless through four weeks, falling to Utah, UNLV, New Mexico and Northwestern. Foster took over ahead of the matchup with Northwestern and first year offensive coordinator and former Indiana quarterbacks coach Tino Sunseri parted ways with the program following the 17-14 loss to the Wildcats.
In his stead, Skipper promoted former Bruins quarterback and current wide receivers coach and assistant head coach Jerry Neuheisel as UCLA’s new offensive coordinator and play-caller. UCLA immediately upset Penn State at home and has gone 3-0 putting up 42, 38 and 20 points with Neuheisel as play caller and Skipper as head coach.

Fast Facts
- Indiana’s second matchup against UCLA as Big Ten member institutions. The Hoosiers beat the Bruins 42-13 at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles, California, in 2024.
- Hoosier quarterback Fernando Mendoza’s 21 touchdown passes lead the Big Ten.
- Indiana’s Curt Cignetti is undefeated against fellow Big Ten coaches hired ahead of the 2024 season (DeShaun Foster at UCLA, Sherrone Moore at Michigan, Jonathon Smith at Michigan State and Jedd Fisch at Washington.)
Predictions
UCLA presents more of a challenge offensively than any team Indiana has faced at home since the Hoosiers knocked off Illinois. Skipper and Neuheisel have revitalized the Nico Iamaleava-led Bruins, complicating the scouting teams can do ahead of time.
Indiana needs to overcome the loss of Kellan Wyatt on defense, which will likely require some adjustments from coordinator Bryant Haines. Haines has proven very capable of this.
The Hoosiers find ways to limit the Bruins’ offense and score enough offensively to stave off the upset attempt.
