After a slew of exits from Penn State hockey’s roster, the Nittany Lions got some positive news when London Knights winger Jaxon Cover committed to Penn State on Friday afternoon:
Cover had 52 points (20 goals, 32 assists) in 67
games with the London Knights this season, good for No. 56 in the OHL. Most projections currently rate him as a late-first round or second round prospect in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft. He will likely slot into a top six role at Penn State, and with his playmaking ability, he should be a good fit for Guy Gadowsky’s system.
Cover will likely play one more season with the Knights before joining Penn State in 2027-28. Penn State still needs to replace all four of its wingers on the top two lines, assuming Gavin McKenna goes pro. The Nittany Lions’ 2026 recruiting class is loaded with forward talent, including Kale Dach, Pierce Mbuyi, and Shea Busch. With the college hockey season coming to a close this weekend and the transfer portal opening on Monday, there will likely be some more Penn State commits in the coming weeks as the Nittany Lions look to rebuild the roster.
