It’s unclear if Texas football’s starting quarterback will play against Vanderbilt this weekend.
The team announced earlier this week that starting quarterback Arch Manning has entered concussion protocol.
But head coach Steve Sarkisian says they’re ready to work with what they’ve got, according to a recent report in the Dallas Morning News.
“I don’t think it’s like, ‘Well, who’s this guy?’” Sarkisian said. “He’s in a lot of faces, a lot of the time. And so it felt very comfortable, felt very normal today.”
“He’s very engaged, even when he doesn’t play,” Sarkisian said. “If you ever watched our sidelines in-game, 18 is probably the most engaged player on that sideline.”
“He’s always locked in. He’s right there, ready to go in if anything happens. He’s got his helmet on, (listening) to all the play calls through his helmet,” receiver Parker Livingstone said. “He’s like playing out like a mini game on the sideline, what he would do, what he would do differently, what reads he would go through.”
