We’re only three practices into 2026 Detroit Lions training camp, but I can already get a sense that some of y’all are champing at the bit for more coverage. And with 90-ish people on the roster, there are still plenty of players to talk to, talk about, and analyze their play on the field.
There will be plenty of opportunities to expand our coverage over the next few months. Not only are there approximately 16 more training camp practices ahead, but there are also three preseason games ahead. Our
notebooks should be filled by the time we get to September.
But, for now, I want to hear from y’all on our training camp coverage. Today’s Question of the Day is:
Which Lions player do you want to hear more about at training camp?
My answer: I’m going to try to take a closer look at Detroit’s pair of rookie interior defensive linemen: sixth-round pick Skyler Gill-Howard and seventh-round Tyre West.
Admittedly, it’s been tough to get much of a read on either player thus far. For one, both players are regularly repping with the third and fourth string teams this early in cap (as expected). That limits the amount of reps they get each practice. Additionally, interior defensive line play is extremely hard to evaluate live with no replays. There’s a lot of traffic to sift through.
Still, I’m looking forward to them potentially climbing up the depth chart, and I’d love to get one or both of them pulled off to the side to see how their rookie journey is coming along.
