The Baltimore Ravens are signing quarterback Kedon Slovis off the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad, per The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero. The second-year passer will add depth behind Joe Fagnano and Austin Reed following injuries to Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley.
Slovis, 25, has taken just five regular-season snaps since entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2024 after five years(!) as a starter in college. He spent three years at USC and started as a true freshman before leading the Pac-12
in most volume passing statistics in 2020 and passing yards per game in 2020 and 2021. His numbers dropped sharply at Pitt and BYU over the next two years with a 58.0% completion rate, 216.5 yards per game, and a 3.6% touchdown rate after 68.4%, 280.6, and 6.1% marks, respectively, as a Trojan.
Slovis did not make the Colts’ active roster as a rookie and spent the year on the Texans’ practice squad. He was waived by Houston during final roster cuts in 2025 and signed with the Cardinals’ practice squad, where he worked with now-Ravens quarterbacks coach Israel Woolfork. After Kyle Murray went down in October, Slovis was promoted to the active roster. He appeared in two games after Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew also suffered injuries.
Arizona moved on from Slovis this past offseason. He took up the Packers’ third-string quarterback job and posted prolific numbers in the preseason. His 434 passing yards ranked third in the league, as did his 83.6 grade from Pro Football Focus (min. 50 snaps). Unlike Fagnano in Baltimore, however, his performance did not earn him a 53-man roster spot. He stayed on Green Bay’s practice squad, keeping him available to be poached by the Ravens amid their injury crisis.
Slovis only has a few days to learn Baltimore’s offense – a tall task for a veteran, much less a third-year player. Since the emergency No. 3 quarterback must be on the 53-man roster, it would make sense to designate him such on Thursday night and elevate Austin Reed, who played for the Ravens in the preseason, to back up Fagnano – assuming he starts. The undrafted rookie is dealing with an ankle injury that limited him at Monday’s walkthrough, though both player and club have expressed optimism about his availability.
